Public Online Conference: Consumer Protection in the Digital Age

The German Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection (BMJV) and the ASEAN Committee on Consumer Protection (ACCP) will be hosting a Public Online Conference on Consumer Protection in the Digital Age.

Taking place online on 14-15 September 2021 from 3 – 6pm (SGT), the Conference will discuss the following topics:

i)      Addressing consumer vulnerabilities in the digital economy, with a particular focus on strengthening self-determination of digital consumers.  This includes best practices of consumer enabling technologies; and

ii)     Promoting consumer access to redress, with particular focus on new technologies such as legal tech and corporate digital responsibility. 


The conference will also provide updates of the latest technologies relating to e-commerce to provide a new perspective for the ASEAN Member States as well as new tools for advocacy that is being developed to address future issues in relation to e-commerce.


Expected audiences and stakeholders include experts from the public and private sector, as well as academics and consumer advocates/associations such as the ASEAN Consumer Association Networks (ACAN).
