Registration for “Competition, Business, And Consumers: A Conversation On How Business And Consumers’ Rights and Welfare Can Be Protected Through Competition Law” is Open

Competition law is often characterised as the regulation of businesses to ensure that markets are contestable, or that market power is not abused to the detriment of fair competition. However, the consequences for non-compliance with competition law are not limited to only businesses that may have to pay penalties for infringements. Well-functioning markets create benefits for consumers and can help businesses to compete fairly and efficiently. Market conduct that affects competition can have an impact on the prices that consumers pay, or the quality or choice of goods and services. To that end, those affected by anti-competitive behaviour can seek redress by making claims for damages and/or injunctive relief from the courts if they are able to show direct loss or damage arising from such infringements.

In this intimate and exclusive session on 6 June 2023 co-organised by CCCS and the Singapore Academy of Law, Tim Ward KC will be sharing his experience in competition cases in the European Union and United Kingdom. He will also be providing practical tips for competition practitioners on advising affected parties that are thinking of pursuing third party actions for damages, or businesses that may be facing the prospect of such litigation. This is a physical-only session which will be held from 3 pm to 4.15 pm.
