Senior Executive / Assistant Director (Consumer Protection)

What the role is

 

You will join a team that plays a key role in Singapore protecting consumer interests and ensuring that businesses engage in fair trading practices. You will be primarily involved in the administration and enforcement of the Consumer Protection (Fair Trading) Act (the “Act”).

 

What you will be working on

 

Your functions and duties include the following:

• conducting investigations and where necessary, following up with enforcement action against errant businesses;

• conducting market studies and providing policy advice to other parts of Government, public authorities or consumer protection organisations (including the Consumers Association of Singapore) on national needs and policies in respect of consumer protection matters;

• undertaking policy and legislative reviews;

• planning and participating in media/outreach initiatives;

• attending to complaints and feedback received from the public;

• representing Singapore at international/ASEAN consumer protection fora.

 

What we are looking for

 

Candidates must be keenly interested in Singapore’s consumer protection law and policies, and should:

• Have demonstrated strong analytical, research and judgement skills;

• Preferably have experience in enforcement, investigations, or policy-related work, although fresh graduates with strong interest in these areas are welcome to apply;

• Be self-motivated, purpose-driven and a team player; and,

• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Senior Executive, Finance & Procurement

 

What the role is

 

The Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS) administers and enforces Singapore’s competition and consumer protection laws. Amongst various things, CCCS investigates and takes appropriate actions in cases infringing these laws, whilst at the same time provides effective advice to Government and public authorities on national needs and policies in competition and consumer protection matters.

What you will be working on

 

You will join a team that is responsible for finance and procurement operations so as to ensure CCCS’s financial viability and to support CCCS’s strategic imperatives, while maintaining financial standards, governance and compliance.

 

Your functions and duties include the following:

- Perform daily Account Receivables and Fixed Assets operations

- Prepare monthly bank reconciliation

- Administer and manage grants

- Perform timely month-end and year-end financial closing

- Provide secretariat support to Audit Committee

- Assist with budgeting, financial audits and procurement

 

What we are looking for

 

Candidates must be proficient in financial operations to maintain the financial health of CCCS, and should:

- Have at least 3 years’ working experience in a finance or accounting related job

- Preferably possess working knowledge of NSF ERP and a good understanding of Government Instruction Manuals on ‘Financial Control’ and ‘Procurement’

- Be meticulous, well-organised and able to multi-task effectively

- Be self-motivated, purpose-driven and a team player
